Vardaan Enterprises (VE) is a South African Black Economic Empowered (BEE) business in the Electronic Engineering and I.T. sectors. The company was started in 1994. Our company provides cutting edge technologies in the Digital Electronic Engineering and Information Technology (I.T.) fields.

Initially the aim of the business was to provide expert I.T. services and consultation to its clients. Since then the business has enhanced its products and services, through electronic engineering and electronic manufacturing. Our focus is to bridge the gap between the I.T. and Electronic sectors. In the electronic engineering sector we are able to offer complete turnkey development from conception through to installation of the completed product. This includes all electronic development with R & D, software, firmware, drivers and hardware. Our specialty is USB based development, specifically in the niche area of USB 2.0 which is the latest very high-speed communication specification. Since it is such an unknown environment, we have produced our own complete development suite consisting of hardware (e.g. a development board), software, firmware, libraries and interface units. The intention is to remove the complex underlying technology to assist older generation engineers. This leaves these engineers to concentrate on their core expertise/technology. Newer generation engineers are also able to benefit from this suite as the learning curve is greatly reduced. They are also able to seamlessly integrate other circuits or products without worrying about interface problems. This assists when working with core technologies that are not USB.

The business has also been appointed as a reseller for Jungo, a company that creates programming toolkits for driver development in Microsoft Windows, MS Windows CE, Linux, Unix, Solaris and OS/2 operating systems. I.T. services and products were always restricted to the SMME and general public except for the software development service which is primarily for industry. One of our current projects is an advanced USB device capable of very high speed serial data transmissions in harsh conditions; therefore it is being used in the military environment. Another project is the development of an access control system which includes an extensive database that can be managed via the telephone (cell/landline) system and uses a unique hardware key.

Target Audience
Vardaan Enterprises target audience is mainly industry, parastatal government organizations and now growing to include the engineering market. However our initial focus on the SMME sector is still supported.

More and more businesses require computer interface products, whether it is human-computer interface (HCI) or hardware-computer interface. USB is increasingly becoming the interface of choice due to its vital plug-and- play capability, ease of use, high speeds and its free availability on all computer systems today.

Vardaan Enterprises currently operates in a niche area of USB device development, thus enabling the company to market its products competitively. Prices for the Jungo products are primarily set by the developer and the competitive advantage is that VE, as the agent for the product, may negotiate costs of products with prospective clients.We attempt to use mainly local services and products in order to keep pricing low and offer quick turnaround times, thus customization has no significant cost implications. Being an SMME, overheads are kept to a minimum, and hence product and service costs are minimized without any loss in quality or service delivery.

Staff and Expertise
The management team consists of professionals with degrees in Engineering and Biological Sciences. The remaining staff consists of contract workers. We also have access to a vast network of professionals that include GIS specialists, ERP developers, database developers, etc. Professionals from the medical, dental, legal and commerce industries are also within our network of expertise.
